What is Storytelling for All?
Storytelling for All explores the transformative potential of purpose-driven technology in education to advance inclusive storytelling. Inclusive storytelling is a narrative approach that aims to represent and give voice to diverse experiences, perspectives, and identities. It involves incorporating a wide range of cultural, social, and historical contexts into stories, in order to create a more accurate and representative portrayal of the world we live in.
As an educator, I advance inclusive storytelling by leveraging the power of media technologies to create a more diverse and inclusive representation of the world. In 2004, I co-founded Colectivo Piloto, an organization advancing community and youth development through multimedia storytelling. Since then, I use media technologies such as video, audio, and digital tools to help students explore, express, and share their unique stories and perspectives.
Overall, my goal as an educator is to empower students and communities to use media technologies as a means of promoting understanding, empathy, and inclusion, and to help them become responsible and ethical media creators and consumers.
In Storytelling for All, I strive to share the stories and experiences that make inclusive storytelling possible. Through weekly posts, I provide meaningful examples of how purpose-driven technology can be leveraged in education to advance students' critical thinking skills and the cause of diversity and representation in storytelling.
